A list of Frequently Asked Questions that could assist you when booking a location recording or mastering session. If there's something you would like to ask, simply drop us an email Just ask, we're in.

 Are you insured?

Of course. Mellowfarm Recordings uses 1 Business Insurance to provide up to £5m public Liability Insurance (PLI) the details of which are available on request.

 Is your equipment safe?

Absolutley. All of our portable electrical gear is tested rigorously to ensure that our strict health and saftey guidelines are kept to. We PAT test our equipment ourselves (we are also qualified PAT testers) to the Electricity at Work Act 1989. If it doesent work, or it fails, we dont use it. Simple.

 Can you work with kids?

All our staff are Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) registered. We work with young people on a day to day basis either teaching, in youth work, or through Mellow Farm so don't worry. We also carry identification to show who we are. If you're unsure, just ask.

 How far can you travel?

We can come to you, wherever you are. Mellowfarm is local to everywhere. We are based on the South Coast, and can reasonably travel to anywhere in the country. We have a studio outpost in Preston, Lancashire, so if you are further afield, all your mixing, editing, everything right down to the final master can be done straight away. We do charge for travel from a fifteen mile raduis outside of Portsmouth City. It's only 41p per mile, and just covers our fuel costs, thats all. We also use up-to-date GPS satellite nagivation in our vehicles, so the figure will be accurate and taken to the lowest mile reading.

 This sounds expensive. Is it?

It sure can be, if you want to go to the top studios in New York or London, we like to talk in realistic terms. We are the only commercial mobile studio in Hampshire so we can be flexible with things like this. We charge by the day, usually for an eight hour period, (this does not include travel) or by the hour, whichever one suits you. All our mixing and editing is included in the final price, however our other services will be extra. Each and every project is completley different, and it wouldnt be fair to give one price for all, so your quote is tailored to your requirements. To give you an idea, we charge £375 per day and £36 per hour. You can get a second day for £175. Dont forget that this figure includes mixing and editing.
